Our first stop on the big trip was to have a meal with family at Bills pizza pub in Greensboro. India and I were both born and raised in Greensboro. This place has a lot of meaning for our family and for me it goes back to when I was 16.
When I got to high school we were allowed to leave campus for lunch. As freshman we would walk 1 mile to burger chef and this was the coolest thing to do. Later there was on guy who had a car and we had a lunch routine every day. My mom gave me two dollars for lunch every day. There always a guy selling joints each morning before class. I would buy one for a dollar and that would leave 1 dollar to eat lunch. This meant you had to eat cheap. There was on guy who had a car and four of us would go somewhere every day. One of the guys, Rob’s Mom worked at Bills pizza on the corner of Cone and Battleground ave. She would let us have 8 inch pizzas for either a dollar or free. I don’t remember which but I know we liked going there once a week. The food was good but what I cared about is I could eat for only a dollar. Twenty years later my family started going to Bills pizza as a tradition on the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year. If you whisper Bills Pizza to my siblings they will make every effort to fly in from wherever they are and gather for a feast. This is why we chose to start the trip at Bills.

The folks that were able to come were my four siblings and some nephews and nieces and grandchildren. At Thanksgiving the amount of people in the picture would almost double. They were all wonderful to be near and celebrated our Escape to fulltime RV travels and Savannah graduating high school and that she will turn 18 in less than a month. After consuming mass quantities we dropped by the old mill to buy yellow grits which has also become a routine for us.

We had arrived at Falls lake on Thursday Morning and drove into Greensboro for Bills pizza saturday lunch. Savannah wanted to go back and hang out with her Brother and India and I stayed the night with my little sister Cheryl in Winston. We sat and told stories and made each other laugh uncontrollably. On Sunday we wandered back to Falls lake in Raleigh. I decided to use this campground as a staging area to make sure the RV was ready for the open road. Its also nice to hang out in Ben and Darylene my sisters town. Most people would say why now instead of 3 months ago. My response is you do the best you can and working everyday got in the way and getting the house ready to rent was overwhelming so when we left out we not really ready to leave. We were living in the RV in the driveway of my other acre next to our house we are renting for the year for about a week. I was afraid the new tenant would lose patience with us living in a trailer in his driveway so we left ready or not. I have been ordering things from Amazon and Campers world and having them shipped to Bens house. We plan to pull out on Monday June 27th and using the scenic route go directly to Watkins Glenn and Niagara to get back on schedule. We have a lot of cool things to see and we have reservations in Yellowstone arriving on July 31st so we need to get moving.
