We went south to visit Wind Cave National Park. Its about 10 miles north of Hot Springs. We took a park ranger guided tour and it was really cool The cave has a calcite formation known as boxwork. Approximately 95 percent of the world's discovered boxwork formations are found in Wind Cave.

The cave is also considered a three-dimensional maze cave, recognized as the densest (most passage volume per cubic mile) cave system in the world. The cave is currently the sixth-longest in the world with 140.47 miles. I borrow some words from Wiki because I forgot the exact things the ranger said. She showed a small hole in the ground at the entrance where a kid discovered the cave in the 19th century. The kid noticed cold air rushing out of the ground and got curious and found the cave. The ranger said you could use the rushing air to predict weather. She said if the air is moving into the earth that means the barometric pressure is falling and you will see storms. If it’s pushing out it means high pressure and sunny skies. It was all very neat stuff to learn about.

This is frostwork and it also is found at wind cave
