Our next stop is going to be our first Escapees RV Park. Escapees is a club we joined to get reduced rates and RV tips and such, it was about a 3-hour trip clockwise and we settled and decided to stay there for a week. A few days prior I thought I heard a pop sound from the engine, and it seemed to be exhausting black smoke a bit. Normally there’s none unless you’re under a heavy load.

When we were settled in, we planned do a couple of day trips to La Push and see some of the scenic things in that area. We read they had a lot of Lavender fields in Sequim (Skim). The locals know you are a newbie if you say it the way it’s spelled. We were all excited about all things lavender and we quickly found out the season had already ended. All the fields had been cut back for the winter. We really like the Escapee’s park. They nickname themselves SKPs and we found out it’s a 55 and older park. I am 54 ½ but they said they would let it slide. It’s basically a retirement community and it has its share of retired control freaks. I have met people of this nature running HOA’s who fine you for having the wrong color pansies out in your yard on the wrong month. We can overlook that sort of thing because we are transient. What we like is that there are quite a few out these parks sprinkled around the country near places like Olympic, Crater lake, Yosemite etc. They offer the comfort level of 60 per night KOA for about 22.00. In the center of the compound there is a clubhouse where there is something going on most every night. They have a workday every Thursday and I pitched in and helped with the landscaping for a half day.
