Well, it was time to finally leave Chimacum and so I thought I'd start mapping out my trip. We decided to make the effort to get the engine swap done out near Dallas. I thought it would be nice to be home for the holidays to see family.
I thought I would go ahead and figure out what exactly was required to make this happen. I started plotting it and its about 4000 miles so I figure if I drove 3 hours a day how long would it take?
I think it said 20 days or something like that. Realized we would not be able to lollygag as much we would like to. We're going to probably need to drive 3 hours and then not stay but one night at each stop.
Occasionally when there is a nice thing to do, we might stay 2 nights.
We really enjoyed our time up towards Olympic and Chimacum, except for Bellingham and the truck dying, and now it was time to go south.
We left Chimacum and went down Highway 101 and it's about a 3-hour drive to Cape Disappointment. It turned into a long day we went by Tacoma on the way because we saw some parts on Craigslist that would be helpful additions to the RV. It was pretty much on the way, so it didn't matter.
We left and went through Olympia but didn't really stop. We stayed along the Oregon Coast and we talked how this would be the most wonderful drive in the world if you were in a Prius. We came to realize pretty quickly that it was a tough drive in an RV like mine.
It was around the curve and over the mountain and it was 20 miles an hour and it was straight down the hill and don't fall off the cliff, so it was kind of weird.
