Kaufman Texas was our next stop and it is just east of Dallas. As we went through Dallas/ Fort Worth area we definitely realize they also have traffic problems. We spent a lot of time just idling in a big old traffic jam. Sooner or later, we got to Kaufman and we talked to Glenn, our go-to guy who's going to do the rebuild on the engine. He told us about an RV park in a little town not too far from Kaufman. We stayed there during the rebuild. The name of the town was called Kemp.
I parked the RV and the very next morning I took the truck up The Glen at Kaufman and he gave me a ride back to the campground in his truck. That was I believe on a Wednesday or Thursday and he said he was going to get me in and out and done Friday afternoon, and he did. They still had a couple of small details, but I asked if I could just use the truck over the weekend and bring it back on Monday and he said that would be fine. We did all that and I got myself a brand-new engine and that Monday they fixed an unrelated air conditioner problem. We were out the door pretty soon after that. On the day the truck was to be ready maybe Tuesday I decided to ride my bike all the way to his shop from Kemp. It was about 5 or 10 miles and by the time I arrived I was whooped. That was about the size of my Kaufman visit.
