The last stretch of campgrounds had been of a lot of Boondocks so this would be the same. I thought it would be nice to stay in a national forest and just experienced the ability to use dispersed camping anywhere in the forest. I looked on the map and saw that Highway 20 was going to cut right through Talladega National Forest. The way I understood the rules, just as soon as you are inside the boundaries of the National Forest, if you're not blocking anything like a gate you can camp anywhere. It was dark when we arrived and I know what to expect so I just drove into small two-lane road and just out of the blue this huge clearing appeared. I assume that they're getting ready to do a highway job there or something but it was cleared just for me. I thought so I did a nice little u turn and parked for the night. I enjoyed the free camping. There was really nothing to do there and so we didn't stay much past early morning . At some point I construction people were arriving and maybe they were working near where I was parked. It was a nice place to sleep but felt it was time to go.
