Sometimes I find my Campgrounds from Reserve America or recreation.gov or RV park reviews but sometimes I use something called free camping. Net.

It lists for any area pretty much any kind of cheap or free campground and many times they are provided to the public via the public lands or the Army Corps of Engineers. Beaver Dam was one of those and I didn't know what to expect. Naturally we got there way too late and it was getting dark so I went down a long road that I thought would never end. You were kind of in the park but it kind of looked closed. I realized it was open and I found an available campsite. For the life of me I was trying to back in and I could not quite do it in the dark and so I tried for probably 15-20 minutes. Savannah would hold the flashlight and at some point I gave up and went back to the entrance and then entered into the campground Loop the wrong way as they are normally one-way loops. I just pulled in forward first and figured I would figure it out tomorrow in the daylight. The only downside is you're not going anywhere because your truck is a blocked when you pull in and it makes the hookups a little too far away. I've got extensions so it worked out fine the next day at daylight I was able to back in because it's so much easier in the daytime. I met the campground host who lives there and I think he's been there for a couple of years because it's just a little piece of Redneck Heaven. He told me about the alligators on the other side of the lake so I kept that in mind when I was going down to the shore. Rustling around the cattails its nice to know that the alligator lives on the other side. The host was just a nice guy and I think it was like $8 a night.
