When I first decided to go to the Keys, I figured we need to find out where we're going to stay and go about doing that so maybe a month before we even got there. I started nosing around where we might stay and there are quite a few state parks around throughout the Keys. I was a little bummed they were booked solid for like a year in advance

I just figured we would just Boondock and I found out this is forbidden in the Florida Keys. I thought maybe the parking lot like the Ace Hardware or something. The more I asked around and investigated it quite a bit I found this was not going to happen,

In my desperation I thought maybe I could appeal to the Methodist churches along the Island and just ask them if I were maybe to go to a church service or two can I park in a parking lot overnight. One responded with a big fat no one responded maybe and eventually said no.

I guess real estate is that just such a premium they don't want to give anything away for any reason. I called Habitat for Humanity and asked if they could let me stay. They said they didn't have any parking and they referred me to several Campgrounds

You think what's the big deal getting a campground most of the time RV for camping is around 20 to $25 a night and sometimes for free. I started looking at the Keys I noticed if they charge 36 to $40 per night for the state parks which for all booked. I started to ask around and get prices for RV parks in the Keys it seemed like the average price was between 90 and 150. To park your camper.

Pretty rough I guess eventually it just came down to you either go you don't go but you have to pay the piper. We found a place down at the very end at Key West that was $80 a night which I guess is a bargain. It was the most affordable thing we could find. It was called Leo's Key West Rv park.

We got there and the first thing I thought was I may not be able to get into the spot that they intended. We were in it now but I might point out that Leos had the RVs packed in like sardines and it seemed more like a dump than a resort I had already made a deposit but before I committed fully, I need to make sure I can get in the hole. I got to tell you it was a pretty amazing feat. It's kind of like parking my rig into the only parking spot available at Walmart. I didn't believe it was possible but a local guy said he could make it happen. He was also from Canada. He guided me in and amazingly we got it in there.

We spent a little bit of time nosing around looking for future sites. We a place that’s right on the water where you could walk off of your RV site and slip a kayak into the Keys. It was a thousand a month. Leos was a 2500 so I would consider doing that in the future.

To me, Leos is not worth 2500 just because it’s close to Key West but it’s kind of a dump/tiny parking lot.

We spent some time at different Keys and rode some bikes at Key West right on the water. We had a nice sunset moment and a nice dinner. India and I got kind of tickled. She said she wanted to do all three things that Jimmy Buffett would approve of. We were at the restaurant one night and she wanted to have a Margarita, Key lime pie, and a cheeseburger in Paradise.

That's exactly what she ordered and we watched the sunset. It was just a nice little evening and we stayed at the Keys for a couple of nights and on the way out we went to the Key West Arboretum type Botanical Gardens. It was just gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed the area although kind of busy with traffic.
