If it weren't so far away our next stop would be Chaco Culture National Historical Park. It was a good long haul so we need a halfway place and I found a place in Aztec and the name of it is angel Peak. It is a Bureau of Land Management Boondock type place. We were in a town just before we went down a long road with no services for 50 and 100 miles in a stretch. I wanted to fill my tank with fresh water and I saw an ad showing a dump station at a local gas station. They expect you to buy some fuel and if so they’ll give you the key to the dump station and freshwater. While I was doing that some native ladies were looking at a flat tire. I asked if they needed help. One was older looking about 60 and small in frame. She said if I have any trouble I’ll take you up on that. They got their car jacked up in like 30 seconds and the older lady had the tire changed like she belonged in a Nascar pit crew.
I said dang you don’t mess around. She said out here you got to know some stuff.
I said y'all be good and they said the same. We would talk a little but we want to get back to the house by dark.
The boondock wasn’t much. It was just a dirt road where you can kind of get away with being there. It was a well-maintained road probably because of the oil rig industry. The coordinates suggested we go about 8 miles down so after about 2 miles I saw a place that had a very good turnout. I just took that for a night’s rest and Angel Peak did not offer is much more than a place to sleep, but that's fine. From across the way we could see the rock formation Angel peak. That was a very nice thing to gaze on. As we settled in occasionally some trucks would go flying by looking like they were in one big hurry to get somewhere.
The next day we headed on down to Chaco culture. The following is some of the location info offered on Free camp .net.
