When we talked about the gentleman that ran the farm he just mentioned that if we went to Albuquerque there was a Petroglyph National Monument. We got a little lost on the first approach then we realized the National Monument was a parking lot with bathrooms.
We read the self-guided tour plaques and they lead you up a hill where there were lots of Petroglyphs.
The hiking trail climbed up a pretty steep incline and you end up on a large hill and a little further you reach a summit. It was so cool to be a part of something ancient. It was a little bit of a struggle physically for all of us. India said she was about done. Savannah and I went all way to the summit. India said she didn't feel the need to quite go to quite that high but she did alright. Going down is always a lot easier. We enjoyed the day and later on we went and got haircuts at Great Clips, dinner out then headed back to Socorro.

The owner was a school teacher and he was so cool. He offered to spend some time with Savannah to teach her about alpaca wool. He gave her away to spin wool from alpaca using a hand bobbin type thing. She learned how to spin wool into threads and she still spinning to this day and I just think that's great. He kept the alpacas in a fenced area at night for shelter along a barn with stalls. During the day each morning he would turn them out into knee-high dewy grass and they would happily munch all day while he taught at the local high school. It was such a pleasure hanging out with him.
