Our next stop was Bakersfield and the thing that sticks out the most for me is the Rolling Stones song about the girl with the Faraway Eyes. We found a place called the Orange Grove RV Park. I got a kick out of this place because sometimes you'll have just some kind of weird parking lot that's an RV place. This place got its name because years ago it was on Orange Grove. This park was so cool because it really was and still is presently an Orange Grove.
Imagine what seems like a hundred acres or more of orange groves. They’ve cut into the in-between the trees places to park the RV. Orange trees are surrounding you at every angle. Orange trees only produce fruit once a year. That means you work all year and only get one payday. They utilize the space for RVs and oranges and I just loved the idea. With this method, you get paid 25 per day per RV all year and then once a year for the fruit.
I know the guy up at Cedar City had given me a pretty big lecture on how that we're not going to be any more warranties on the throttle position sensors but I'm still having problems needless to say. I called Advance Auto in Bakersfield and they said they could take care of the exchange for me. I went by there hoping that it would not be a problem. The people I worked with at Bakersfield were super friendly. They kind of just didn't care and pretty much just handed me the new unit and I gave him the old unit and we parted ways with no fanfare. I was very relieved and hoped that maybe I can fix the wiring problem soon as possible.
I had called several different mechanics and they all said that they weren't interested in working on the wiring for my throttle position sensor because he can turn into a labor-intensive mess. I finally decided to as an electrician I would just have to deal with it myself. I would tackle this when we got to Yosemite.
Bakersfield is kind of a bleak place where they're just growing tons of oranges and hot so after I got my sensor and had one night's rest, we were ready to go and we headed out towards Mariposa.
