Two hours up the road we found a town called Willits and Sleepy Hollow RV Park. It was fine for a day or two but I couldn’t have lived there. It was kind of on a gentle terracing kind of hill and they would cram two big rigs front to back at about 10 terrace levels. It was still woodsy and it was fine but it was kind of tight.
It's times like these you pick the spot because of its Pivot Point not because of the beauty or amazing views.
In this case, it was a pivot point for my Leggett Loop.
By the time I finished this loop and the Cloverdale loop I was so glad we dropped the rig. This highway hugs the rocky California cliff coastline all the way. It is up, down, around the hairpin turn and scary sort of no guardrail kind of thing. In a small sports car fun, but a big rig, I would have just died. I might see if I could have done it but I would have had a nervous breakdown.

Here's a screenshot of what we did as we left Willits and went over to a place called Fort Bragg. Unlike North Carolina, this one is right on the beach. To see every inch of the California coastline we went down to a place called Elk. As soon as we said tag your it we did a U-turn and went back north on Highway 1. because Between Elk and Manchester it wasn't going to be that incredible and it can get a little monotonous to cover every inch of Hwy 1.

Our next area was something we had looked forward to. This place is called The Highway of the Giants which is just a ton of redwoods.

The Avenue of the Giants was awesome, kind of wow, really car ride.

This area also has the Leggett drive-through tree. Of course, we drove through it, and was so cool, but in our truck, it seemed like a pretty tight fit.

We saw a cool old lighthouse that was about a hundred years old in a town called Trinidad. It was a foggy day along the coast which seemed appropriate when talking about lighthouses. The elevation of the town was so tall the lighthouse was probably only 12 feet high. Since we were on top of a mountain it was 500 feet tall to the ships at sea.

We left Leggett and got back on the big road 101 and went back down to Willits for the night.
From everything I read after you get to Leggett the coastal Highway one is very doable with a big rig so we had the strange part behind us now.
