Our next stop was Wolf Point Montana and we had intended to stay at the Wolf Point Museum. It was just a parking lot in the middle of a pretty busy urban area. I met a guy at the library he just said that some of the people on the reservation had kind of an attitude and I should watch my back. I don't like thinking like that but he was giving me a gentle warning that crime is a bit of an issue. I thought do I want to be in an empty parking lot or out in the woods. I didn't know exactly where that would be so I did go to a Wi-Fi location which turned out to be a laundromat and nosed around. I didn't find any boondocks in the area but there was an ad for Culbertson in the days' end directory.

This guy was on one side and we were on the other. I just got a kick out of how simple and small he was and we were 60 feet long connected to the truck. It takes all kinds.

I called them and they suggested I might do what they called the park. She said it was either free or affordable. I went there and it was a fairly small parking lot beside a small city park. There was a grassy field for my cat to run around. They have water and a dump station if you need it. I'm pretty happy here for an overnighter. I figured at some point I would go to the library to get some internet. I figured I could check my email and maybe do a little blog update. This wasn’t a destination location but it was a nice overnighter. We settled in and visited the town a little.

The fella across the street from The Boondock was like a former mayor who owned or now his son owns the hardware store around the corner.

He was beyond kind and whenever I was about ready to leave, he pointed out I had a low tire.

We looked at it and it had a nail in it so he asked me if I wanted to take it next door and fix that his house and of course I said yes.

He and I worked on plugging the tire. In the midst of doing it, we noticed it the rim was cracked.

It wasn't an immediate problem because I used the spare tire to get back on the road. He said let's hop in the car and go see my buddy and we went to his machine shop to look at what can be done.

His buddy looked at it and decided that it was unwise and a liability problem to weld aluminum rims. He said there was nothing to do so I thanked him. Everybody was friendly and we packed up and went towards a junkyard I had found online. I was hoping to get a new awning tube.

It had got bent somewhere back in Portland and it wasn't working very well.
