Our next stop was a harvest host and it was an apple orchard. They also had vegetables as well. I sure do like Harvest hosts boondocks. We had called ahead to ask permission and they said it would be great.

We came on by and as we entered the area getting pretty close to the farm I saw the coolest old church and I had to pull over and take some pictures. It was just beautiful to me. We went on down to the orchard and let them know we were here. They pointed over to where we should park and we settled in right at the edge of an apple orchard.

I always find the humor in the Harvest host because on many occasions I brag about how I found a cool place to stay for free. Then I'll go in there and buy produce and stuff from them and walk out with a $60 tab. Sometimes it makes me laugh that who's getting over on who. Even if it cost money its just kind of cool to be a harvest host participant.

I went down to the local gas station to fill up and just because I who I am I said talking to one of the guys that was hanging out. It was kind of like Wally's gas station drinking a Nehi, He said so are you guys from North Carolina?

I told him about us and where we live and he said yeah, we're really digging Nascar. We come down sometimes once a year or when we can to go to the big Nascar races. I think he said we like Charlotte or Martinsville or something. I was kind of getting off on that.

I told him about the history of Nascar because I enjoy doing that. I told him the story about how up in North Wilkesboro they were running from the law because they were moonshiners. They became so good at it and the cars became so fast it became bragging rights on whose car was the fastest in terms of outrunning the law. They would practice at dirt tracks to see he was the best and that's how Nascar became a thing. We had a great time talking to each other.
