We wanted to see Acadia National park. I had heard of it for the first time on the Ken's Burns special our national parks our best idea.
I had never even heard of it but here we are. It's an island and pretty near Bar Harbor. Not many people live here but it just seemed like a pretty large area for it to be almost all-natural.
It's very popular internationally and cruise ships stop here and such as that.
It's one of those things that there's either no vacancy or the campgrounds already closed or maybe if there's anything open it's too small for my rig. Mostly things are closed because it was fall and when Maine gets cold you need to leave. It was close to Bar Harbor Maine it is all kinds of cold here like some of the coldest temperatures of the whole country.
Since there was very little to nothing available for RVing unless maybe paying somebody $70 a night. This was a little beach on free camp.net and again couldn't have been any cooler.
There were probably 10 different rigs down there at the very end of a road which was at the very end of someone's neighborhood. so I guess deep down they didn't really care for us too much but it was like a public park place.
They were people just out there fishing all night in beach chairs. We met a family that was traveling for the first time from north to south so we swapped stories a little bit.
We were all just kind of tucked in there where the beach met the wood line not bothering anyone. As with all boondocks, I kind of kept looking over my left shoulder for the police to come down. There were never any problems so that was a cheap thrill to not have any complaints.

We stayed 2 nights and had the best time as it was gorgeous.
We spent all day to just be tourists at Acadia National Park. I took a bunch of pictures of the Fall colors and we also met a fellow from a foreign country I honestly can't remember where was from. Maybe it was East Germany or the Balkans I can't remember. We saw him just wandering about the top of a long hike. He had made a comment of did we know about how far it was down to the dock. I said man would be glad to give you a ride down there and he said that would be great.
He mentioned that he was on the cruise ship and that he had plenty of time but he did need to get down there. When they left port and he wasn't too sure about how Uber works around here and I was glad to help.
Acadia was gorgeous and we enjoyed being there. We enjoyed been there for free especially.
This is a FREE campsite.
