I found a nice state park called Promised Land State Park.
With my upbringing with Baptist hymns I couldn't help but thinking, we have reached the Promised Land.
It was a beautiful New England lake and we went there and spend a few nights at a piece of land called Pickerel Point. We were out in the lake on a big peninsula.

We saw some signage and visited a Memorial to the guys that built this place. They were the CCC’s back in the Great Depression. The memorial says they built it from 1933 to 1941. In our travels, it seemed half of the state parks we saw were built by the CCC. The Fall colors are pretty dang nice here.

From everything, I've learned the CCC could have kept going past 1941 but if you think about it something pretty significant happened, Pearl Harbor. As I understand it the CCC projects ended because every male from 18 to 30 went to war and there was nobody left to be in the CCC's anymore so it kind of fizzled out. It was reinvented later under different names and in one way or another became the Conservation Corps that my daughter Savannah had joined in with. The original creation of the CCC happened under FDR.
