We decided to spend maybe a three-night stay up at the resort just to experience the keys a little bit. I'm really glad we did but it's about a hundred and ten for a night.

We were going to head that way to see if anything would shake loose on a place to stay while we were waiting for Cudjoe Key to become available. I thought maybe I would stay in the Winn-Dixie parking lot or something I wasn't sure.

I know that boondocking of all types are truly frowned upon at the Keys that's just the way it is. I called Winn Dixie and they couldn’t give permission abut they didn’t quite forbid it.

I saw an RV on the right side of the road in Marathon at a parking lot that appeared that it was there for people who wanted to fish along the edge of the highway. Next door it looked like it was formerly a Putt-Putt place.

I went over and saw some guys and asked do you know if it's okay to park here for a day or two. The guy said actually that's my rig and I've been doing this off and on for a week. He said sometimes if I get the feeling it ain't quite right I'll go over to the Winn-Dixie for a few nights and then come back over here for a few nights. He was clearly going to do it for a month or so and I just wanted one or two nights at the most. It seemed fine for our needs.

I pulled in but I tried to stay as out of the way as possible and I tried to get to where Bert to go to a grassy area if he wanted to.

I just assumed I was going to get a knock on the door during the night but it was all good. I think maybe the authorities were being a little more about boondocking friendly because there had been a hurricane and there were a lot of people coming and going and the whole place was upside down. Maybe the police had better things to do than catching boondock violators.

The other reason they might have been friendly a lot of people might have lost their homes and we're in rigs not knowing what to do next. Maybe that's why they looked the other way.

I took some really pretty sunset pictures. We got a bite to eat I was cozy is a bug.

Other than a free place to stay that was about it for the marathon boondock.

I went by the Home Depot one afternoon and saw this tree with the most interesting roots.
