We were looking for a place to rest on the way back from the Keys. I wanted to go to the equestrian site near Naples to figure out how to salvage our foiled trip to the Keys for winter. On the road across the everglades going west there were several federal campgrounds but all were first come first serve. You can't get a lot of info ahead of time and you just have to show up and see what happens. The first one we came to was called Midway and it was packed with no vacancy. We went to the next one it was called Monument Lake and there were plenty of sites available just no amenities. We stayed there and it was a nice enough place. At half off it was seven bucks but it was a still just a boondock.

Sometimes it's just about rest so there was not much to report here. We met some nice people in a tent across the way. He gave a sense of security. You weren't just pulled off on the side of the road. I always enjoy being near a body of water as you can watch wading birds and such.
