We had noticed Fort Clinch earlier as there are two decent state parks in this area. One is Fort Clinch and the other is Crooked River and they're not far apart. They're both in the Fernando Beach area at the Georgia-Florida border. This time we stayed at Fort Clinch and I have nothing but good to say about it.

The particular site we got had some low-hanging limbs and getting into the site was very much a chore. Once you're in you're okay. Looking back now I think I would have been far better off going with what they call the oceanfront sites because they're just easy to get into without any of the tree limbs. It hard to get a waterfront site just passing through but using the 11 months out method this place would be fine. One problem now is we are too far north to consider any more sites. Were only doing all this to dodge winter and that is best done down south Florida more.

Fort Clinch State Park is located at 2601 Atlantic Ave (State Highway A1A) in Fernandina Beach, FL. From Interstate 95, exit at Exit 373 (Callahan/ Fernandina) and proceed east about 15 miles on Highway A1A. Turn right on Atlantic Avenue. The park entrance is about 2 miles ahead on the left.
