Our next 2 hours stop didn't seem to have a lot of cool state parks or anything and I had signed up for a site called BoonDockers welcome. This would be my first opportunity to use them.

The deal is you pay like 20 bucks a year and when you're traveling you can type in a city and RV types will allow you to stay on their property for free for a few nights.

Our people lived in Laurinburg or you might I say near there. I would say they're just the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

We had some contact before arriving to make sure it was okay. As we got close we looked and it was down at the end of a road and they had a big old piece of land. It was several acres with a house and their RV. They kept it plugged in outdoors to keep the battery charged.

They had been full-timers off and on and told us about all kinds of interesting jobs they’ve had had as campground hosts. They said one time they were the gate watchers for an industrial-scale sugar beet harvest. They watch the gate for all the trucks flying by in exchange for a full hook-up RV site. I just did not know such big beet harvests that go on. They reminded us that there are opportunities like this all over the country.

They showed me how to do kind of a pull-through then back into where we could be close enough to get power We didn't need anything else as we had some water in the tank.

We were happy and Bert had plenty of room to run around in a large grassy field.

The gentleman whose name was Darrell O’Neal and his bride was just so crazy friendly. He showed me how to make a TV antenna out of PVC pipe and two semi-circles of copper tubing.

He also mentioned they had been sailboat people out on the open water for months at a time but now they are on dry land for a while.

Using my welder I wanted to create a kayak holder on the back of the rig and he helped me weld it together properly. Getting it clean with a grinder first made all the difference.

We only stayed one night and I would just have to say they were just the coolest people ever.

The real exciting part of the day was we went down into town and ate at a Mexican place but that's all the excitement we could stand.
