I like my new backyard.

Once we got settled in at Crosswinds the house was technically ready to be on the market and there were no more big problems. I kept going down there every other week to make sure everything was okay.

I guess it's a good thing because even though we did finally get an offer there were just all kinds of stuff that had I caught. Had I not gone down thing would have been worse. I would spend our days being campground host and hanging out with Ben. I would disappear on Tuesday and return Thursday evening to India who would hold the fort down at the Jordon Lake in my absence.

On one of my trips down I noticed one of the drawers in the main bath was stuck closed. When I pulled on it the door came off in my hand. It was particle board but I needed to fix it enough to sell.

I knew that whoever bought the house would probably throw the cabinets out. It's just the kind of thing that can put out a death vibe when someone is walking around kicking tires. We don't want that so I found a way to replace the drawer slide mechanism and get it patched together.

The other major thing that I noticed is that the humidity level wasn't holding properly and I went underneath the house and the drain line that I thought I had created wasn't draining properly. There was water everywhere and I had to get what I call an air conditioner pump. It gets rid of the water with an electric motor instead of gravity.

The water from the dehumidifier goes into the little pump and then it pumps it uphill anywhere you want. It would have been embarrassing if anybody wanted the house and saw water everywhere. I'm glad that got resolved. I made some new doors for the crawl space so we're kind of sealed up with silicone and a little bit of masonry to keep water from getting in the future.

I was able to get it all straightened out and within a week we had an offer. Even with my efforts, a home inspector found a fair amount of moisture little bit of mold and we eventually had to pay a 5,000 allowance for that during the settling of the deal.

We went hiking every other day

From the time between the water pipe breaking, the renovation with the insurance claim, waiting forever to get an offer, getting the house ready to sell, and getting it sold and done was a very stressful time for us. We love our little house but it was just dogging us you with lots of maintenance and other unknowns. It was just a big relief to be sold and done. India and I went walking in the woods for two miles every other day and still do. During our stay in Jordan, I had a bad experience with my blood pressure.

I had stopped taking a high blood pressure pill for several months. I just decided I didn’t need it anymore. This was not based on facts and I still don’t know what made me think that was a good idea. India and I were going to Pittsboro one day and I became too dizzy to drive.

It was so weird the steering wheel was stiff but everything else felt like wet spaghetti.

I could turn my head 90 degrees and stop my head but my field of vision was would keep going 180-degrees area then snap back to 90 degrees.

Turns out it's hard to do this driving your truck at 60.

India took over the driving and we went to Walgreens. I thought maybe I would check my blood pressure at the self-serve station. It was just off the charts like 180 over 120. They suggested I go directly to and urgent care and I did. That was a wake-up call for me and I try to behave myself medically these days.

Crazy sky one afternoon

We bought a two person Kayak at Costco and paddled together at Jordan lake

Jordan lake evening colors We started going to Chapel Hill on Sunday and became active in the UU there. They offered a Tai Chi class on Thursdays and we enjoyed doing that. We also became regulars and good friends with a group in Chapel Hill known as ACOA. They are good and helping one understand dysfunctional family experiences.

We established mail at a PO box in Pittsboro. They taught me how to receive packages there treating our PO box number as a unit number. Later in our stay, I decided to buy a new refrigerator online. I was able to receive it at my PO box using this method. The postal clerk met me at the dock and just shook her head in disbelief.

We would enjoy our routine here until Hurricane Florence came through. That would end our stay at Crosswinds for the season. Helping Ben with his bus project became such a big undertaking I created a separate page for that.
