We went to Myakka for one night and it is very popular and typically hard to get a reservation there.
I guess this time of year it was much easier during the middle of the week but you can forget getting a spot on the weekend. I didn't realize it but it's Florida's largest state park. It consists of two pretty big lakes and a connecting river and I just got to tell you a lot of preserved land.

It was just a very big area of prairie and really very pretty. There was lots of wildlife. We realized we won’t be able to see much in one day. We rode around just to see as much as possible. It would allow us to see what it was like for a future stay.

There's quite a lot to do with kayaking and so forth. I would say if a person could stay here with for two weeks that would be the best way to go.

Wiki: Myakka River State Park is a Florida State Park, that is located nine miles east of Interstate 75 in Sarasota County and a portion of southeastern Manatee County. The state park consists of 37,000 acres, making it one of the state's largest parks. It is also one of the oldest parks in the state.
