Last winter we were at The UU at Tampa and a lady after church said well in your travels if you get a chance you must see Fort Desoto it's so beautiful.

We went by and did a ride through to look and see which sites would be good to stay in if we ever got a chance.

We got a park map and made a little asterisk beside each site that would be great. We also found a site that was on the water and we got it for two nights.

I would have stayed for the weekend but that was not possible because it's very popular.

Fort Desoto is very pretty and we are enjoying being here and we went into St Petersburg for a visit.

There were a lot of tolls to get here I think it was probably a total of $10 before we got through everything.

I guess they got to pay for all these pretty places somehow.

Fort Desoto is all dirt roads but it doesn't matter because they were not the kind of thing you get stuck in and just sandy. The angle was tight but we backed in and got settled in. It was just fine and a big view of the water so that was great for us.

We walked our beach chairs away from the rig about 30 feet or so to the edge of the water and we could just sit there gawking at the lake edge and look at sunsets.

I had heard something about blue-green algae and it's kind of a problem these days. I saw some of it along the lake's edge and that was kind of gross.

I've said lake twice but it's Tampa Bay which is ocean water.

I will have to look into it but it's probably caused by people and pollution and runoff and fertilizers and all that but it's pretty gross.

Seeing that was the only bad thing about our visit there.

I met a nice fellow across the way and he said that his fifth wheel hitch had a broken pin in it and I talked to him about how to do this and that and we were just becoming quick neighbors.

We enjoyed it for three nights and then the weekend came and we had to leave.

We were pleasantly surprised that there was a T-Mobile signal there because when we passed through back in the winter with pretty much a dead zone so that was an unexpected pleasure.

We drove into towards St. Petersburg a few times to do some touristy stuff like a movie or maybe catch a meeting. Mainly we just enjoyed the scenic value of where we were.
