Heading north, Larry and Penny Thompson county park in South Miami

Leaving Cudjoe Key I had thought maybe we would stop at John Pennekamp.

John is a nice State Park but if I have to be brutally honest it's a little man grow to be a little swampy. I just decided it wasn't fantastic enough to stop so I just drove a little longer and went north.

A couple of years ago we stopped at Larry and Penny Thompson county park in South Miami.

I remembered it as being a nice place and we went ahead and stayed there for two nights and it was a good decision.

We ended up at a site that was a long back where there was a grassy field and some trees and of course Bert loved that. Next to us, I saw a young couple with two children and I admired how they were just letting their kids kind of play in the dirt like we used to.

I heard them speaking a foreign language and I thought maybe if I could say something to them, I could be a good ambassador for the US. I said something cordial and they spoke English so I just welcomed them and let them know if there's anything that they needed we probably had it on our RV and we could help in any way possible.

They had a minivan that had a pop-up roof that made a little tent each night which was kind of cool.

To me, it was a modern version of the Volkswagen bus with an expanding roof.

I told them if they wanted, we could have a meal and they said tomorrow night would be great so we did.

They said they were from Switzerland and they had the minivan shipped over here and they were traveling for 8 weeks at mostly state parts and such.

I shared with them my triage on how to find the sites and my blog and stuff like that. I bought some chicken drumsticks and a few things and we had a nice meal here in the RV. We pulled out our table leaf in the kitchen for the first time and brought up two extra chairs.

I know it's hard enough for a child to learn one language much less two so I believe the child was speaking German or in my ignorance whatever Switzerland people are speaking. I had something on Amazon called Shaun the Sheep that doesn't use language it all just visual. It’s like the Pink Panther and that was a nice choice for the young person.

That way there would not be any words that they didn't understand it was all visual.

We all had a nice meal in a nice visit and the next day we headed out and went west.
