We wanted to stop in Asheville to break up the trip a little bit and our go-to place has been Lake Powhatan. We stayed there in the winter on the way to get to the R V and there were sites available and such.
We just kind of went in there without any reservation I call ahead and they said well we really don't have anything.
This is a really great place because it's federal and so we get half off. It has water and an electric 50 amp service so you get a site like that for like 12 bucks is a very good deal.
They said they had a non-electric site we could have and we decided to do that for two nights so I had to make sure the generator had gas we had to get a full tank of water.
We went down to the dump station to fill our water tank and it's not a big deal but as we were leaving the angle was so I began to feel like we are going to be in the ditch. It was just a weird hairpin turn for a dump station that I could have done without.
We got settled and just basically enjoyed ourselves as it was a very beautiful woodsy place. There wasn't actually any internet but that just is the way that is.
At some point, we went into town and downloaded a lot of stuff on the phone so we would have a little something to watch on TV.
The next day we made an arrangement to meet with my niece Becky Spalding Price and her new husband Daniel Spaulding.
I have no idea if she's Spalding Price, Price Spaulding, or Spalding so I just guessed at it.
We met Becky at the Mexican restaurant in Asheville and had a really nice talk and hung out with her and Daniel.
For about 10 years now ever since college Becky has worked in Asheville as an attorney for North Carolina prosecution for child protection cases.
I think that's a mighty noble thing to have spent her time doing it wasn't just all about the money it was about helping people, helping children.
Lake Powhatan was a little less than exciting we didn't even go down to the lake and we've been there two times
Maybe sooner or later we'll get down to the lake
