Whenever I first started working with Ben at this session starting in Hillsboro at the big farm I had wanted to you know clean up as much of the crazy wiring as I could. I should go back a bit. When I was here 6 months prior I had done a lot of cleaning up all the wires at some point a connector came loose from what I finally realized was a governor or speed control. It had about 100 wires going to it using a quick disconnect plug. I unplugged it for the purpose of trying to reroute a few things. When I did the pin connection assembly sort of started falling into pieces. This is the kind of thing that you try to put back together but you just can't. I figured I would just order a new one but it was not available. I removed the entire assembly and took it with me to Florida when we went down the road for the winter. I had intended on reassembling it or making it better but it's like anything else it took 6 months and 2 days to fix it. I didn’t touch it for 6 months and then when I got back to Raleigh I started the repair at my work area and did some soldering and made it quite a good connector again. While I was gone for 6 months prior Ben had no reason to crank the bus but soon enough he would be living in the bus full time. Ever since I took the connector off the bus refused to crank. When I put it all back together still nothing. I called a guy from Gregory Poole, the Cat Diesel people, to come out and do a troubleshooting call. He was able to do a lot of things but he says far as cranking it he said it would take longer than this visit. I got on the phone with somebody at Thomas and he walked me through some stuff and by the time I was done with him I realized it wasn't the connector. When the connector fell apart a +12 volt wire touched the ground a blew a fuse inside a peripheral module. I looked and it had a little five amp fuse and it was blown. I replaced it and the bus cranked right up. This was a very good feeling because I had kind of done Ben wrong but taking away his bus cranking ability and it felt really good to have that straightened out. With that, I felt like I could leave town.
