Our daughter Savannah is 21 now and has her own apartment. Because she started out in the world from scratch, she doesn't really have the job history or the credit to get the apartment alone so we co-signed it for her, and yet she is paying her own bills with the help of her roommate boyfriend Isaac.

I got to thinking about the fact that their rent is in 1100 plus. We figured if there was a way we can get her into a starter home we would like to be helpful with that. We sold our lot and if we could spend that money on something in 90 days we could avoid capital gains taxes. We don’t need a house but I thought our kid does. With the help of a house flipping contractor guy named Dominic, we started looking for fixer-uppers. I worked with him as an electrician for 10 years plus and we have a good relationship. He was also was the guy who rebuilt our house after we had a water leak in the attic that destroyed the house pretty badly. He found a little property and it was definitely a fixer-upper. It was listed for a great price so we told him to make an offer have made an offer. The realtor accepted and we have about 48 hours before it's locked into stone. We went to Wilmington to take a look at the property.

There are not many options for Rving in Wilmington. There is the KOA that's in Ogden or Carolina Beach State Park. Carolina Beach was pretty full and to my surprise, the KOA because was affordable at this time of year. I think it was $40 but in the summer it's 110 per night. The price was reasonable and thought it was easier than all the driving Carolina beach would require.

We meant Dominic at the property Sunday afternoon at about 3 and of course, we had Savannah with us. We did a walk-through it's kind of like I said it's a definitely remodel job. It was interesting to lay it out in our minds but until we removed the walls sheetrock it's hard to see exactly what the floor plan will be. That was the really important business in Wilmington and so we stayed Sunday night and we just kind of hung out with Savannah all day Monday. She took the day off to visit with us and hang out with us at the RV. She played with Bert and we just had a nice family day. We had a nice dinner at Indochine which is her favorite restaurant. While in Wilmington I bought a jacuzzi tub for our RV because the one that came with it was a narrow shape and this one had jets. While at the KOA I swapped tubs and donated the old one to the maintenance guy at the campground.

We figured we would close on the house in January but to our surprise, it would take 6 months to take ownership. It was owned by 11 heirs and it took a while to untangle all the liens and such.

With all this behind us, we left Wilmington and headed south
