When I looked at where Lexington is and that it is a lot of trouble to get too Bolar Mountain, I say why would I bother to swing by here. The main reason was I wanted to see the George Washington National Forest in the fall. This is also passing through the town where Ben did an SCA thing for 3 months when he was 18.

We left Lexington and went to Covington then went North about 20 miles towards Bolar Mountain. We have learned from this particular trip up the hill to do it the right way because what we was the wrong way. I followed the GPS and we were going up a small road for quite a while. The GPS said take a right turn here. I fell for it went up a very steep hill to a tiny little town. I saw a sign that said no vehicles over 33 ever go down this road ever. I saw some guys and they said they would never go down that cat path and they told me how to get to the bigger road. They were very helpful and they finally got me there. As I got closer and kind of wanting this to all come together I'm beginning to realize this campground is first come first serve. I took a left turn towards the final stretch and a guy was right behind me I wouldn't say I cut in front of him but it was just like I was there like 2 seconds prior to him being there. It was not like he was ever going to get a chance to cut in front of me and get the very last campground site but I was afraid of that. It was also weird that he was right on my tail too. I think it was almost like I was holding my ground and you're not going to pass me, I hope. It was a little weird and then I finally got there and I was in front of him and I did get whatever site I wanted. I was afraid because if I spend too long trying to find my place, he'll take it it'll be the last one available. When we all got there, it was getting dusk and I just said sir I just wanted to say I hope we're not both trying to get the very last site and I want to be polite about it. He said don't worry about it I'm meeting some friends here and they've already got my site kind of paid for. So I kind of relaxed and realized that whatever was left was all mine. I guess he was just in a hurry and I was going at careful granny speed and following close wasn’t aggressive just not that well mannered on his part. I'm saying all of this because it was kind of stressful to me that if I let him pass me, he'll get the very last one and then we'll be screwed. It was just a weird day. It actually took several hours to figure out how to get back to the right road. We finally found it when we got there it was very pretty and because it was a federal site it was cheap.

We went on a hike here and there and below us there was a beautiful lake. We stayed a few nights and then from there we went down to the next stop towards Thanksgiving
