I drove down that lonely road from the Mayfield dealership to Columbus Belmont State Park, I was pretty slow and steady because as I mentioned I was just afraid to mess up this brand-new wonderful toy. I have serious baggage from the bridge in Virginia so even though people are piling up behind me wanting me to go faster I just couldn't bear it. It was a bit of a wiggly windy road. It was probably 15 miles or so to get there. When we arrived, we had the place to ourselves. I suppose it was more active in other parts of the year but right now we have the entire park to ourselves. We didn't really how to pay the fee or anything. It was January in Kentucky and it was cold. Some nights it was down to 25. We looked around for what we felt like would be the best site and leveled up. When the computer was finished the rig was level using 6 hydraulic cylinders. I looked at the passenger side RV wheels and they were 10 inches off the ground. It spooked me but I decided it was normal. I raised the rig manually a few inches and put some of my plastic leveling blocks under the tires so it didn’t seem so weird to me. The new rig had a fake electric fireplace insert heater that was warm and pleasing to look at. We also had two portable space heaters going and the heat pump. Usually, when we are waiting for the electric stuff to warm up we crank the gas furnace for a while. It will get the whole rig warm in about 10 minutes. Soon we were quite warm and cozy. We stayed there for about a week mostly just decompressing from trying to get there quickly.

We left on a Tuesday and we wanted to be there on Thursday. We needed to do it before the weekend. It just took a lot out of our kind of rushing to get everything unloaded off the RV into the new one. Now we could just decompress. India did Lion's Share of the unloading but I tried to help to do a lot of everything I could. We pretty much worked together on the project and we put everything into all the cubbies and all the cabinets and it took many days. I also needed to go back to the rig once or twice before the salvage guy came. There were some things I had installed and I saw no reason that they should end up in a salvage yard. I removed my 3 backup cameras and cabling. I took my two fairly new batteries. My new water pump, my new 400.00 water heater I had installed at Hudson Florida. I decided/hoped they wouldn’t notice or mind me stripping the rig so shamelessly and they didn’t.
