We intended to stay at the Port St Lucie Lock and Dam which is a federal campground corps of engineers but there was no vacancy. I looked in the area and we found something called the Savanna Recreation Area, it's run by the county. I have no complaints about it. They do allow you to stay I think five months at a time which is kind of cool for Florida. I couldn't think of a whole lot bad to say about it just seemed run down. It seemed like a kind of a trailer park but mostly 100% RVs.

There’s something about RVers that don't seem as creepy as trailer people. Not that there's anything wrong with trailer people. They just sometimes fit the stereotype of being less than a fantastic character. I know that's judgy, I'm sorry but that's what it feels like sometimes.

I thought if I was going to dodge winter and I didn't want to do the 14-day hop you might be good to stay here. I think they've got everything I would need.
We did a hike and mainly we wanted to go to Port St Lucie to check out the federal park but when we looked at where it was it was like half an hour south. We figured we could just do that on the way out of town.
At this point, I figured we've done a thing now let's go home. I was going to go by Eustis and fix the lights and then by Hawthorne but other than that it was about time to go back to North Carolina.

Keys maybe?
We had stayed at the Keys for 3 days back in January of last year. It was very expensive during that part of the year and almost no vacancy.
I told India I said if there were something available would you feel like staying at the Keys for a minute and see what it's like? She said yeah and I looked on Craigslist and there was a waterfront site for half of what they charge in winter. It's still expensive at about 1600 a month. This is almost twice my comfort zone because That makes it about $53 a night and my happy place is 25 per night.
It was at Venture Out Resort the same place we had been. I figured it was worth asking the guy about a cat. Would it be okay and he said that he had no problem with the cat. He thought the neighbors would have no problem with him as they are all laid back. Bert would prefer a hundred acres but would have to get used to a 20 by 80 concrete slab. When we stayed here before we were in the back of a canal so your view was a lot of rigs lined up in a row. This one was oceanfront which was hard to resist.
If we wanted it we had to decide and pay upfront so we did. I hope the HOA is not too strict and I hope we can figure it out or I’ve just made a horrible mistake.
We decided hey let's do that so instead of going home so we went to the Florida Keys.
We chose to take the place for the entire month of April and so we found a few places to stay along the way for the next 10 days.
On the way out of town going south towards the Keys, we stopped by Port St Lucie. It was very pretty I would love to stay there. There are a few sites near the woodline that I would prefer if the opportunity arises.
