This little town was a pleasure and it was 2 hours away. We called ahead and asked if I had a site and they said yes. On the day we were checking out of Lake Griffin a care package from my sister had still not arrived. It was our mail that had accumulated for a few months. I gave a pre-paid mailer to the park ranger at entry and asked them to drop it in the mail to us as soon as it arrived and they agreed. I thought that was pretty nice on their part. I picked Jasper Florida post office to receive it. We got to Gibson there was a husband and wife host team that met us and helped us get parked and all that. We went about going to pay and I think the normal rate was like $15 a night and he said that since India was over 62 they gave us half off so it was like $7 for a full hookup.

We enjoyed our little visit there and they were very friendly. Most of the time Bert has no idea which direction to go so I walk him up toward where it will be okay, I like to think this means fewer problems with the neighbors.
For some reason, he thinks you're supposed to go up under everybody else's ring and hang out or jump into their compartments. I try to lure him away into the woods somewhere. I walked towards a shelter that was way off away from everybody and got Bert to follow me. I would make little meow sounds and he would follow like a little puppy dog which is kind of cool. When we got there he thought it was cool to be up high so I put him way up in the rafters of the shelter and then he felt just a little creeped out so he felt the need to crawl up on the roof. It was a little intimidating to him because it's easy to get up and then you don't know how to come down. I went over towards him and I said well come on and he started kind of coming in my direction and then the slickness of the metal roof turned into an unintentional fun slide ride with no burlap. He went flying down to the ground out of control. I couldn’t even think about catching him because he would be all claws. Somehow he did fine and our excursion showed him a cool place to go. We saw a clearing and he would just lay out in the field and enjoy life so that was all good.
We went out into town to get the mail sent to the Jasper post office which was the closest thing nearby. In town, we went to a barbecue place which was quite nice. Gibson Park was a low key very inexpensive place that people would go to and be right on the Suwannee River so you can sing songs about the river while you were there so that was nice. One afternoon we went on a hike and explored the Suwannee and sang the song of course.
