I had an email conversation with the minister of the Asheville UU while I was still in Knoxville. We asked if we could stay the night in their parking lot on the way to Winston. Since we left so late and we didn't want to arrive at a place like that in the dark so we stayed at the rest area instead. Now, after completing Hillsborough and all the adventures in Wilmington and Texas we were leaving Winston-Salem. I thought maybe I could take her up on her offer now on the flip side. The lady in charge who was the minister had been so kind but I felt like I had asked and got approved like six times and never took her up on it. Now we wanted to ask one more and she said absolutely. We got to Asheville we followed maps directions to the congregation. We went down what seemed like a street that felt a little narrow as I had gone to some length to make sure I arrived in the most big rig-friendly route. Even so, I had a little trouble with a left turn. I was approaching, it seemed a little bit tight. Even as I did it the right wheel of the camper started clobbering a flower bed that was in a median. I had to kind of get out, think about it, back up with traffic behind me and it was getting kind of scary and I was becoming a pain in the butt for everybody in town. I was able to back up, redo my turn and not kill the flower bed. Later that evening I went back to the flower bed and fixed one of the signs that I had kind of bent over. I'm on the right road and I took a look at what we were supposed to do and it was a tiny little parking lot maybe 20 x20 and the camper alone is 40 feet long. There was a larger parking lot down below so I parked the rig temporarily to make sure this lot was part of their property. I walked the block a bit and every house and building for a large city block seemed to be owned by the UU fellowship. We parked and leveled up. I saw a garden hose laying nearby and hooked up to it. I was in good shape and had a nice hot bath which is one of my simple pleasures.

I really couldn't ask for a better evening. It was a perfect temperature everything was great, very quiet, no one said anything to us. I would have just sworn that everything was going so great and then the next morning about 8:30 there was a knock on the door. We were having breakfast at the time. A lady said, Hi there you cannot be parked here. We have 50 pre-schoolers that are going to be showing up in about 15 minutes and you absolutely cannot be here. I said well we had permission from the UU congregation to be here. She said maybe you did but you don’t have permission to be in this parking lot right now because we are getting ready to open. Parents will be dropping kids off and you have to leave right now. I said I was sorry and would get moving. There's nothing worse than this feeling and now it's full panic mode, go mode. I was probably packed and out of there in like 7 minutes. She had every right to tell us but it was just such a panic attack to hear it, go, done, and bam like that we were gone. We pulled out and headed towards some kind of rest area or something just so I can finish my breakfast and then after that we were on the road to the Kentucky area.
