Whenever we left Asheville, we begin to realize that we were going to have to put some asphalt behind us to create a one-week gap for me to go back to Wilmington and help Savannah get her house trimmed out electrically. I also wanted to work on the terracing layout with the backhoe guy. When we left Winston-Salem and headed for Sedona, we only had about 30 days. If we could do it the way we wanted to we would drive 2 hours and stay 3 nights. That would take 60 days. It became obvious that we would have to do several 4 or 5-hour drives and stay one night just to get caught up. I figured doing some long drives three maybe four times and only staying one night we would be caught up and we can go into a preferred groove 2 or 3 of nights at each stop.
We stayed in Asheville for one night and then boom, almost to Louisville Kentucky. The actual name of the town was Richmond Kentucky. It was fine but the sites for pretty close together and wasn't that cheap like 35 per night. The campground had very little shade but other than that it wasn't bad. There was one negative that I couldn't get comfortable with. The campground was bordered by a steep hill. There was a lot of tractor-trailer traffic going down this hill and they would hit their jake brake all day what seemed like every 5 minutes. It was just was really loud and really annoying. It kind of ruined the visit for us personally but they didn't do it as much late at night.
We went on a little hike through the woods up to Fort Boonsboro. We didn't do the fort tour but it was a nice hike and that was about it for this visit
