Cedar Bluff was going to be a nice 3-night stay as we were receiving a package there at the local feed and seed kind of bait store. This was mainly because the state park said we're hesitant to receive packages there. I needed a CPAP machine as mine had been lost. I think I left it at the hotel when I visited Wilmington. The store was an address where I could receive it. We got settled in and we took a little bit of time picking our site because we wanted something that would be good for Bert and we didn't want to just be too exposed. We found what we thought was a good site and settled in.

We didn't rush into town because it was about half an hour one way. The next day we went on a nice hike. It was a meandering loop that just kind of mostly prairie but you know the temperatures were a little much I said it was between 90 and 95°.

My little bride started looking a little on the rough side about 2/3 of the way. I don't know if she had heat exhaustion but I got to tell it she did not look too good. I started to worry and I put her in the shade for a bit. She sipped water and I took some water and sprinkled it on her head and just kind of rubbed it in and let the wind cool her off. After 10 or 15 minutes I felt like she was good enough to make it home but you always worry about your mate. I didn't like her looking so beat up but also we got a little low on water and that wasn't ideal. We got back and we cooled off. At the time it was kind of spooky but we did okay. The next night we did go into town and enjoyed some Mexican food and went by the grocery store and fuel. Nothing too exciting just an interesting place to stay.

At Cedar Bluff, we were planning on staying on Highway 50. My travel book calls it the loneliest road. We had been on 50 for a while and it was most often a bumpy 2 lane road that was hard on me and the rig. I began to consider a better road. As I began to do some trip planning maybe two or three stops down the way was going to be New Mexico. I found out that all of New Mexico was closed for camping due to covid and that's a problem for us.

I thought about it a little and said instead of going down low we would go up high through Denver and Colorado and see the Rockies so there was no downside to it after all.

We enjoyed our time at Cedar Bluff but after a few days, it was time to go.
