We found this place on freecamp.net. There were other ones nearby but what we chose to do here is park the rig at a pull-out just as we entered this road. We went and looked around at some of the other alternatives and it was a little weird because when we went down right to the Colorado River we found a couple of pullouts but some of them were just covered in trash by people who don’t care. Anything that was right on the river was already occupied and when you went down this road ever a while you realized we didn't need to be down there in a big rig so we went back to the RV.

Ehrenberg Road was pretty close to a Flying J so they had fuel and food. We wanted to see if we could improve on where we were so we went quite a ways down and there was a big opening of about 30 to 50 people boondocking. With that many people, it seemed like a village and it didn't feel that comfortable to me. They were all long-term and sometimes that stuff gives me the creeps a little. We came back down to where we parked and just decided this was as good as it needed to be. It was about a mile or so in and there was a place where we could back in not too far from the main road. We wanted to get a good bit off of the main so we didn't get dust about people flying by in dune buggies and such. We settled in and it was kind of bleak. It reminded me of what the moon looks like.

Many people talk about the desert having its beauty but I'm just not seeing what they're getting at. There's a lot of people in this area known as Quartzite. We looked around in the Quartzsite and there were hundreds of people boondocking and I just saw nothing that I wanted there. It just didn't really do anything for me but I've heard about people saying they want to go to Quartzsite. They can have it. I think they just like that they can come out here and be left alone with no rules or expenses. I think for us we just want more than that for our adventure. It seemed more like surviving than thriving. All we did was sleep so that was that.
