We arrived at the state park a little early in the day and the person at the front desk said at check-in said the site won't be ready until 3 pm. We have kind of learned in the past this isn't necessarily true but we didn't want to push it too far with them. We were about ready to eat some lunch anyway. We headed in the direction of the campground and then took a left at a day-use area. There was a large parking lot to wait a little while until it got closer to check-in. We let Bert out to explore a little bit and he enjoyed that. We hooked up the cord from the RV to the truck and cranked the generator to have a little air conditioning and slid out on one side. We had a nice meal and relaxed a little from a two-hour drive. After a while, I rode over to the campground on my bike and saw a guy that looked like he might be a campground host. I told him my situation and I asked if the site might be ready as we were just kind of waiting around. He said the site that we reserved was ready and if we wanted to we could go ahead and park that would be fine. It was nice to have a full hook up as we had a 50 amp service and that would provide plenty of air conditioning as we have been a little bit hot for a day or two. It was about a hundred degrees every day at Provo so yuck on that but it was nice to have civilization for a few days we had planned to stay for three nights.

We found a nice Thai place in Provo that we really liked and went there twice. We took a nice hike with its trailhead at the entrance of the state park. It was mostly asphalt and followed a river and strange seeds were floating down from the cottonwood trees. It was so thick coming down from the trees that looked like snow on the ground. I tried to get pictures of it but I don't know if I captured how it really looks like snow but it was 100 degrees outside.

When we did hike we tried to do that early in the day before 10 o'clock or so we wouldn't get cooked.

We had a nice view of the lake and some really pretty sunsets and such but other than really enjoying the civilization we didn't do that much. We mostly just rode around Provo, went to different restaurants, and hiked. As you get about a mile away from the state park we noticed a resident or business had a hobby of collecting gas station signage. They seemed to have a sample of every gas station that ever existed in America.

Pics and or video

On our hike, we noticed and visited some horses who were right near the fence line. I also noticed two versions of ranching. One was great and one was horrible. Pics One guy had his horses kind of fenced in and a dirt lot or had they had eaten everything available and they were now just eating store-bought grain and hay but as they look just outside the fence they saw knee-high tall grass that would be delicious but they weren't allowed to have it that really bothered me. Close by there was a rancher that let his horses just eat as much knee-high grass as they wanted and that pleased me but the other guy made me crazy. One afternoon after dinner we were out and about and I saw a thick cloud of black smoke and out of curiosity, we drove towards it to see what it was all about. When we got very close we saw lots of fire trucks and folks working and you couldn't get too close so we turned around and went the other way. Later on the news, we heard that there was a pretty big vacant lot that had caught on fire and since it was kind of a homeless hangout they assumed the same people were being a little careless with their campfires.

That's about all I have for Provo we tried to visit with the lake by going out on a little spit of land used to create a harbor but other than hiking around a bit we didn't do too much. The best way to describe this trek is we're just doing two-hour stops going in the direction of Idaho where I was excited to get started with my hot springs tour. I just didn't realize the air was going to be so hot temperature-wise.
