Go fast across hot part of Nevada 600 miles in 2 days
The distance we needed to travel to get to San Francisco where it would be significantly cooler was 600 miles so we would do it in two stops and only stay one night. I looked and there was a town called Halleck approximately halfway and we found a little public park called Johnny Appleseed and it looked to me like a place we can rest our bones have a little lunch and let Bert stretch his legs a bit. It makes it less of a long day as it would be a better 5-to-6-hour drive.
Our destination for the evening would be Winnemucca. I looked at the possibilities for RV parks and there were two in the vicinity. One of them had horrible reviews the other one called Silver State RV said it's okay so I went with the one that seemed less bad.
At 3 hours we arrived at Johnny Appleseed Park, Country Club Dr, Elko, NV 89801 and it was a pleasant place to visit. A lot of people were there and a lot of activity in the town square watching a little league game and having picnics outdoors. We found a little spot that was pretty isolated where we could park and have a little shade, stretch the awnings out facing a grassy area slide out the RV rooms on one side. I let Bert go run around a little bit so we had a nice lunch. It was nice to rest a minute and after an hour -ish we got back on the road again. It was really hot and we were concerned for the baby boy in the back so we tethered our generator cord to the RV and ran the air conditioner up in the bedroom to keep it at a reasonable temperature. I closed the bedroom door to keep cool in one room and Bert stayed comfortable. I'm not talking about spoiled I mean it would be 90 or 95 up in there without it.
We drove the other 3 hours and checked in. It was already prepaid so it was pretty simple and we settled into a pull-through. It was a very basic glorified gravel parking lot. The only thing they had to do right was to have air conditioning so they did that wonderfully. As we arrived it was a little over 100 degrees but a slight breeze helped?? We survived day one and loved having a full hookup. We went out to a Mexican place for dinner. I saw something kind of interesting as we went into town.

There was a street called Malarkey so I thought that was a blast. Pic We had a good night's rest and headed out the next day for the second leg.
